RESEARCH TRAVEL AWARD

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL GASTROENTEROLOGY (NCSCG)
RESEARCH TRAVEL AWARD 2025

 

OVERVIEW:

The NCSCG is comprised of gastroenterologists and hepatologists from various practice settings throughout Northern California dedicated to the pursuit of clinical excellence through professional growth, service, and educational programs. The purpose of this award is to acknowledge research excellence and support the professional development of early-career investigators by providing travel funding to help reduce costs associated with attending national conferences.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Applicant:

    • Current clinical or research gastroenterology fellow at a Northern California ACGME-accredited gastroenterology fellowship program, including advanced fellowships not accredited by ACGME, such as advanced/transplant hepatology, advanced endoscopy, or inflammatory bowel disease

    • An involved fellow member of NCSCG either through the Education and Trainee Committee and/or regularly attendance of the Educational/Webinar Series

  • Applicants must be the first author of an abstract or the designated speaker of an oral presentation

    • Accepted abstract-based oral or poster presentation at one of the following conferences: ACG Annual Scientific Meeting, Digestive Disease Week, or The Liver Meeting

AWARD DETAILS:

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and is due at least 12 weeks prior to the conference date
  • Award notification will be sent no later than 6 weeks before the conference

  • Awardees will receive a $500 grant to help cover conference attendance costs

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Accepted abstract-based presentation listing the applicant as the presenting author

  • A letter of intent describing applicant’s interest in attending, their role in the research, and future research plans (limit to 1 page)

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Contact details of a faculty/research sponsor

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Applications will be evaluated based on the quality of the abstract and the candidate’s potential for scholarly contributions, including achievements in medical education and research productivity
