APP EXCELLENCE AWARD

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL GASTROENTEROLOGY (NCSCG) ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDERS (APP) CLINICAL EXCELLENCE AWARD 2026

OVERVIEW:

The NCSCG is comprised of gastroenterologists and hepatologists from various practice settings throughout Northern California dedicated to the pursuit of clinical excellence through professional growth, service, and educational programs. The purpose of this award recognizes an exceptional APP in gastroenterology or hepatology who exemplifies professionalism, leadership, collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and scholarly contributions.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Applicant:

    • An advanced practice provider (APP) in a Northern California academic or community gastroenterology/hepatology practice.

    • Active membership and participation in NCSCG-sponsored events and/or APP subcommittee

    • Must have a mentor who is active in gastroenterology and/or hepatology and who is a NCSCG member in good standing

  • Mentor

    • Each mentor may nominate/support up to one APP applicant per year per institution 

    • Past NCSCG APP Award recipients are not eligible; however, previous applicants who were not selected are encouraged to reapply if they still meet the criteria.

AWARD DETAILS:

  • Application Deadline: 11:59 pm Pacific Time, April 20, 2026

  • Award Notification: April 27, 2026

  • Award Presentation: 2026 GI Symposium (May 16-17, 2026 at the Hyatt Regency, Monterey, CA

  • Awardee Package:

    • $500 monetary award for clinical, educational, and/or research activities, including conference attendance.

    • Complimentary registrations: 2026 GI Symposium and 2027 Liver Symposium

    • Complimentary hotel accommodations: two-nights for the 2026 GI Symposium and one-night for the 2027 Liver Symposium (if awardee lives 100+ miles from Liver Symposium venue)

    • One-year complimentary NCSCG membership

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Applications will be evaluated based on:

    • Excellence in Clinical Care – Demonstrates outstanding clinical acumen, procedural skills, and commitment to patient-centered care

    • Professionalism & Communication – Exemplifies integrity, interpersonal excellence, and effective collaboration in multidisciplinary settings

    • Leadership & Service – Engages in leadership roles, institutional initiatives, and contributions to professional societies or mentorship

    • Scholarship & Innovation – Actively participates in quality improvement and advancing medical education

    • Commitment to Growth & Lifelong Learning – Pursues continuous professional development, evidence-based practice, and contributions to the field.

  • Candidate Statement (limit to 1 page) including your background, career goals/objectives, and current/future plan involvement with NCSCG

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Mentor Letter of Recommendation (limit to 1 page)
